Plant biomass
With the rise of the biobased economy, we need to produce plant biomass whilst avoiding conflicting uses of land and promoting the sustainability of this production.
The New-C-Land project is designed to help select the most optimal use of the identified marginal land according to the social, environmental and economic context and based on a decision support tool.
Three types of plants are considered when it comes to producing plant biomass:
Woody plants
Willow, alder, poplar, locust
Lignocellulosic plants
Miscanthus, hemp
Herbaceous plants
Brassicacea, Poacea, Fabacea
The New-C-Land project is designed to offer advice and implement projects in order to use plant biomass produced on marginal land.
