Actibel
ACTIBEL develops a large number of quality real estate projects, relating to the renovation of buildings, the construction of new buildings, or the creation of real living quarters.
For the moment, ACTIBEL also carries out development operations within the ECOLYS business park in Suarlée (Wallonia), which it wishes to exemplify. In this context, the company has made the choice of a biomass plantation on a land difficult to exploit in the center of the zoning, in order to valorize locally the biomass in a boiler which equips a building close to the plantation. This project is underway. Through all of its developments, ACTIBEL intends to propose a “showcase of biomass” project.

Agriculture and Land Issues Association
The Agriculture and Land Issues Association (Hauts de France Region) represents the farmers affected by the soil pollution caused by Metaleurop and / or Umicore’s activities, particularly by representing them to the public authorities to identify and implement economically viable agricultural reconversion system. For example, the association is implementing actions in the miscanthus sector on the most heavily loaded soils in ETM, which supplies local boilers in two communes and an abbey, with 25 Ha installed to date. The methanisation sector is also studied to be operational from 2021.
biowanze
Biowanze is the largest bioethanol production site in Belgium with a production capacity of 300 million liters / year. Thanks to a principle of maximizing the value of the raw material, Biowanze also produces certified gluten for animal and human food (Protiwanze) for cattle and pigs, and fertilizers. Biowanze practices a policy of “zero waste” permanently on an industrial scale. Energy autonomy is ensured thanks to a biomass boiler and the valorization of the bran (external envelope of the wheat), biogas and co-products of distillation.

Etablissement public foncier Nord – Pas de Calais
In North and Pas – de – Calais, since December 1990, the Etablissement public foncier Nord – Pas de Calais has been a major partner of local authorities, anxious to “redo the city over the city”. As state public operator, EPF helps by recycling their used land, intended to accommodate new projects (housing, economic activities and services, and preservation of biodiversity) in the heart of the existing urban fabric. The EPF intervenes from negotiation and acquisition to the disposal of recycled land. It can also provide project management for the deconstruction and treatment of concentrated sources of pollution. After that, the leveled land mostly consists of trays with soil upset. These “technosols” or anthroposols (various embankments, bricks, crushed concretes, etc.) mixed with urban soils that are often very nitrophilous, with various soil conditions, are spaces that are suitable for temporary uses and functions, such as the production of woody and cellulosic biomass or of essential oils.

Le Martinet
The reconversion of the former mining site Martinet has entered a decisive phase. Indeed, while the Martinet defense committee is in its 43rd year of action for the protection and rehabilitation of the site, the City of Charleroi has just announced that the choice of future activities on the site will be part of a sustainable development approach and will be compatible with the potential presence of an eco-district, following the projects defended by local residents.
A 400-foot educational vineyard has just been planted on 26 ares and 8 ha of land will be dedicated to the ValBiom association for the continuation of its phyto-management experiments and eventually the production of biomass for green-energy production for existing or future buildings.
When the citizens get involved, everything becomes possible!

Phitech
Phitech has two activities: the planting and harvesting of crops dedicated to the production of biomass: very short rotation (SRC – VSRC) of willow or poplar, Miscanthus. But also the use of the biomass: biomass boilers and wood cogenerations.

phytofiber
PHYTOFIBER contributes to the deployment of the use of biomass from polluted soils, focused on the production of manufactured products based on plant fibers. The first use concerns the lignocellulosic fibers of existing wood deposits from phytomanagement plots. Several applications will be considered, such as process panels and paper kraft type cooking. The second use concerns bio-composites from nettle fibers (dominant companion species on many sites). The costs and benefits of such a process will also be assessed during the project.
